Course Objectives

Course Description
Marine sediments: genetic components and classification. Mineralogical and chemical composition. Physicochemical properties and measurements (logging). Physicochemical parameters of sedimentation. Colloids and colloidal properties. Clay minerals in marine sediments: classification, genesis, and properties. Sedimentary organic matter. Early sediment diagenesis. Early diagenetic reactions in pore waters and dissolved material fluxes. Carbonate system ve carbonate sediments. Sapropels: their depositional conditions and geochemistry. Pollution of marine sediments
