JDM 633E - Carbonate and Evaporite
Course Objectives
This course addresses key fundamentals of carbonate and evaporite sediments and rocks mineralogy, chemistry, texture, sedimentary structures, sedimentary environments, depositional processes and controlling factors, diagenesis processes and controlling factors, application of evaporite formations in oil and gas exploration and mineral sources, and salt diapers tectonics.
Course Description
The course covers important topics related to carbonate and evaporite sediments and sedimentary rocks mineralogy geochemistry, fabric, texture, sedimentary structures, classifications, identifications under polarizing microscope, deposition and diagenesis processes, sedimentary environments, tectono-sedimentary evolution of carbonate evaporites basins, application in petroleum and gas exploration and mineral resources and salt domes tectonics.
