YSB 606E - Ecosystem Ecology
Course Objectives
1. Introduce student to systems approach in ecology;
2. Develop an understanding of limitations of ecosystem paradigm;
3. Develop an awareness of theoretical, observational and experimental approaches and ongoing efforts to build required research infrastuctures;
4. Introduce the student to theoretical frameworks and metanalyses seeking answers to community structure/biodiversity and stability relationships.
Course Description
The ecosystem concept and its history, climate, water and energy balance, carbon input and cycle, nutrient use and cycling, ecosystem processes, biogeochemical cycles.
