Course Objectives The “Topics in Stratigraphic Paleontology” course contains two main parts: stratigraphy and paleontology. We will learn stratigraphy and paleontology parts respectively.
Course Description The specific learning goal of this course is to gain detailed knowledge of various stratigraphic methods to characterize the 3-D spatial and temporal relationships of sedimentary rocks. The course is focused on different stratigraphic methods including lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, chronostratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy, and isotopic stratigraphy.
Course Outcomes At the end of the course, students will improve their basic knowledge in micropaleontology, palaeoceanography, and paleogeography.
