Course Objectives
The overall aim of the course is to teach the fundamental aspects of mechanical vibrations. This course will provide the required knowledge/skills to:
- Obtain mathematical models for basic mechanical systems,
- Perform free and forced response analyses of single degree of freedom systems,
- Perform free and forced response analyses of multi degree of freedom systems,
- Design systems for vibration suppression.
Course Description
- Introduction
- Free Vibration Response of Single Degree of Freedom (SDOF) Systems
- Undamped and Damped Vibration Systems
- Vibration Response to Harmonic Excitation
- General Forced Vibration Response
- Multiple-Degree of Freedom (MDOF) Systems
- Design for Vibration Suppression
- Vibration Testing and Experimental Modal Analysis
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
