Course Objectives
1.Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering
2.Ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs
3.Ability to identify, formulate and solve structural engineering problems for architectural students
Course Description
Internal forces. Stress. Strain. Tension and compression. Shear. Torsion. Bending moment. Deformation in bending-elastic curve. Combined bending and shear. Combined bending and axial force. Buckling.
Course Outcomes
Student, who passed the course satisfactorily can:
1. Learn the concept of static equilibrium and can use necessary tools for analysis and design of non-deformable systems.
2. Understand the analysis and design problems regarding various real life structural components such as trusses, beams, frames, and simple machines.
3. Learn the concepts of stress and strain, and can make simple design considerations of structural components.
4. Learn advanced modeling techniques and can design structural members
