Course Objectives		1. Introduce industrial product design profession and its ethics. 2. Inform students about the contemporary matters of industrial productdesign. 3. Introduce the basic components of the discipline. 4. Inform students about the basic skilland knowledge requirements for industrial product design.
Course Description		Definitions Related To Design, Product And Industry, Historical Development Of Product Design, Professional Ethics, Basics Of Form And Function, Use And User Concepts, Basic Phases Of Product Design Process: System, Problem And Solution, Research For Design, Engineering, Material And Manufacturing Technologies, Basics Of Human Factors; Product Design In Relation To Culture And Meaning, Design In Relation To Sustainability And Social Responsibility, Design In Relation To Economy, And İnnovation, Contemporary And Global Issues In Design.
Course Outcomes		Student, who passed the course satisfactorily can: 1. An understanding about who an industrial product designer is and what he does. 2. Basic knowledge on the historical development of the profession, ethics and contemporary issues. 3. A basic understanding about the fundamental stakeholders of the discipline, such asthe manufacturer, the user, the customer. 4. A basic idea about the fundamental aspects of the industrial design, such as human factors, material, manufacturing, art, technology, presentation. 5. A basic understanding about the principles and professional ethics of industrial product design.
