MIM 328 - Contemporary Building Materials

Course Objectives

- To introduce new building materials based on innovations and research in the field.
- To determine a new material design criteria according to the performance requirements of a contemporary building material.
- To develop a contemporary building material design proposal suitable to the determined design criteria.

Course Description

Within the scope of the course, the student is able to realize the existing structure and construction materials that have contributed to the production of contemporary architecture and question the building-material-design relationship through the material. In this context, current modern building materials, properties and application principles, which are of great benefit in the production and use of today, are reviewed and suggestions are developed for future needs.
