Course Objectives 1. To introduce the products and actors of the architectural milieu from the 19th century onwards.
2.To provoke historically grounded, critical and comparative thinking about the architecture of the period in consideration.
Course Description Contemporary Architecture aims to introducethe discussions about the social and cultural bases of modernity, modernity and industry, modernity and avantgarde approaches, modernity in urban scale and their impact on the evaluation of modernism in the early Republican Turkey.
Course Outcomes 1. Identification and contextualization of the architectural products of the 19th century onwards.
2.Comprehension of the role of social, political, economic and cultural factors in the architectural production.
3.Association of theoretical discussions taking place in the social sciences and the humanities with architecture.
