Course Objectives 1. To identify types of natural and cultural landscapes, and provide planning and design techniques related to these areas.
2. To provide basic knowledge for evaluating rural landscape components in terms of planning and design
3. To provide the basic knowledge about rural landscape planning and design processes
Course Description In this class (Natural areas, protected areas, industrial and agricultural landscapes, degraded areas, interaction of function and structure in rural landscapes, Purpose and development of rural landscape planning and design, decision making related to recreation based rural landscape planning, survey and analysis of rural landscape, diagnosis and prognosis of landscape, land suitability analysis in land selection, planning and design examples with regards to recreation, nature protection and restoration in rural areas) are general topics.
Course Outcomes Students who passed the course satisfactorily can:
I. Gain insight to landscape architecture practice in rural areas
II. Theoretically evaluate and analyze the rural landscape components and their spatial relationships
III. Generate ideas to solve problems concerning rural landscape planning and design
IV. Identify methodologies with regards to rural planning and design
V. Organize and evaluate the rural landscape planning and design processes
VI. Discuss new approaches in rural landscape design and planning by means of up to date examples
