Course Description

Concrete as a building material, the nature of concrete. Advantages and limitations of concrete. Historical development of concrete, cements. Hydration of Portland cement, water quality, aggregates, admixtures for concrete, properties of fresh concrete, mix design, handling ve placing, curing. Architectural concrete. Mechanical properties of concrete, durability and other properties. Modern development concrete, polymer-impregnated and fiber reinforced concretes. Properties of wood and steel as structural building material.
