Course Objectives
Conceptual framework: conservation, old/new building and etc.; The benefits of adaptive reuse: environmental, economic, social, cultural, etc.; The paradigms and principles in adaptive reuse; The building stock of adaptive reuse: historic, industrial, modern and contemporary buildings; The evaluations and discussions related to adaptive reusing in design through which the examples are both in Turkey and in the world; related seminars with the subject and students’ presentations.
Course Description
Course aims;
1. To learn related concept in adaptive reuse,
2. To grasp the factors which effects the appropriate functioning to the existing buildings and to get knowledge related to implementation stages on them.
3. To know the examples related to adaptive reusing in design both from Turkey and the World
4. To make discussions and evaluations related to the examples of adaptive reusing.
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully pass this course gain the following knowledge, skills and competencies;
I. The ability and knowledge the issues related to the adaptive reuse both theoretically and practically,
II. The ability of critical thinking and debate,
III. The competency of grasping interdisciplinary interaction,
