Course Objectives
1. Understanding of typical area details (building element systems) through precedent analysis and incorporation of knowledge into design.
2. Understanding of intersection area details through precedent analysis and incorporation of knowledge into design.
3. Gaining the ability to design typical area details (building element systems) with multiple criteria and systematic approaches and using different design support tools.
Course Description
Principles of building element (external envelope components) design in the context of systems approach, decision making process and performance approach . Interaction among man, environment and building elements. Performance analysis and design methods of building elements in the context of functional criteria, constructability criteria, aesthetic criteria. Forming of building elements, jointing and integration with building components; and related dimensional co-ordination, tolerances and compatibility. Design and/or evaluation of alternative solutions and selection, and detailing.
