Course Description		Definition of Rural Settlements and Physical characteristics. Socio-economic properties of rural settlements. Planning Problems in Rural Settlements. Plannning Approaches on the SPO and the Ministerial Levels. Foreign Countries Cases and Alternative Planning and Development Approaches for Rural Settlements.
Course Outcomes		1 - Distinguishing rural and urban settlement characteristics 2 - Getting familier with the physical and socio-economic characteristics of rural settlements in Turkey 3 - Valuing planning regulations related to rural settlements 4 - Understanding planning approaches for rural settlements at different scales (settlement, regional, national) 5 - Knowing planning approaches in EU and other countries 6 - Comprehending sustainable rural development policies 7 - Developing planning policies for a rural settlement or settlement groups
