Course Objectives 1. To gain knowledge about the industrial design practice processes in the automotive industry
2. To gain knowledge and experience about the basic principles of vehicle design
3. To be able to plan and conduct a vehicle design project based on scientific and sectoral principles
Course Description Brief history of automotive design practice, Automotive market segments, The concept of vehicle packaging, Defining vehicle size and proportions, The concept of occupant packaging, Vehicle interior packaging, Body and exterior trim, Current design trends, The concept of styling, Future trends and technologies, Methods and tools used in automotive design process
Course Outcomes Students will be able to,
1. Gain detailed knowledge about the principles and extent of industrial design practices in automotive industry
2. Have detailed information about the design process and stages of automobile and other transportation vehicles.
3. Will be able to design a concept and detail within the context of the elements that make up the interior design of the automobile within the framework of a specific design brief
4. Will be able to design a concept within the context of the elements that make up the car exterior design within the framework of a specific design brief.
5. Be able to control and direct the design process depending on international standards
