Course Objectives - To give background information about GIS
- To introduce state of the art and up to date GIS technologies
- To show different GIS applications with regards to urban and rural landscape planning
Course Description Introduction to GIS. Graphic and non-graphic data. Definition of GIS, its evolution and applications and related technology. Geographic database. Data analysis and designing a project. GIS software and hardware. Remote sensing and image processing, GIS applications.
Course Outcomes - Ability to use different data of different disciplines
- Ability to define problems and to synthesize in the light of relevant data during a planning process
- Ability to use technology and computers during data collection and evaluation steps of planning activities
- Ability to develop graphical expression
- Ability to comprehend the sustainability of the natural resources, public values and cultural heritage
- Ability to develop written and verbal communication skills in a foreign language
