Course Objectives
1.to develop students' ability to understand urban, natural, social and cultural change and development
2.to develop students' ability to make an urban strategic development plan
with economic and ecological dimensions, within the legal and administrative
framework
Course Description
Evaluation of dynamics of urban change and development at the regional
level, collection of data on socio-economic, natural and built environment at
regional and urban scale, data analysis, assessment of data analyses,
synthesis of data, development of scenario alternatives, identification of
principles, strategies and policies that will direct urban change and
development, evaluation of legal, administrative and institutional framework,
production of an urban plan with alternatives.
Course Outcomes
Student, who passed the course satisfactorily can:
1. get the ability to collect data, use analysis techniques, identify problems, synthesise results of analysis
2. become capable of understanding different aspects of settlements at different levels, different roles of actors, be able to comment on differences on planned and unplanned settlements, establish new rebecome capable of using forecasting and advanced planning techniques,
and build settlement models.
3. become capable of using forecasting and advanced planning techniques, and build settlement models.
4. become capable of representing planning decisions in accordance with nationally and internationally accepted standards, by using suitable technology
5. become capable of creating concepts of hierarchical relations, developing alternatives, making decisions, developing and detailing such decisions
6. acquire the knowledge of how to allocate adequate service areas and their spatial organization adressing the needs of the soicety and the required standards.
7. have learned and adopted the ethical values related to planning process and importance of public participation, public benefits, social justice
8. become able to develop solutions to problems regarding the sustainability of the natural resources, social values and cultural heritage under urbanization process, as well as identification and developaim at increasing social, economic and cultural level of the country, and, establishing
the basis for healthy life conditions
