ENT 211E - Industrial Design Studio

Course Objectives

1. To explain industrial design and the basic concepts of design theoretically and practically.
2. Teaching design concepts in an integrated manner that facilitates the approach to both product design courses and other courses.

Course Description

Sources of design: Nature, technology. Purposes of design: use, production, sales, infrastructure, recycling. Design communication and design language. Meaning in design. Design methods, design systems, design planning, company identity. Design psychology. Semiotics. Future-oriented issues in design. The role of information technologies. Function, vernacular design, purposes of design, design language, etc. applications on the subject.
