Course Description
History and Theory of Interior Architecture I aims to critically examine the development of space, culture, and daily life in the Afro-Eurasian world from the prehistoric period—when the earliest examples of architecture and art emerged—until the 14th century. One of the course’s primary objectives is to trace cultural encounters and flows over centuries of social development and interaction, discussing the historical background and formal characteristics of spatial practices. Within this scope, the course will adopt a comparative perspective, particularly focusing on the architectural traditions that developed in the Mediterranean Basin, the Middle East, and the Turkic world through specific thematic frameworks.
