MIM 211E - Architectural Design IV
Course Objectives
1. To develop the ability to approach design problems in a multidimensional manner and to personalize the design problem. 2. To discuss the integrity of systems (social, cultural, structural, etc.) in the design process. 3. To conduct research on the relationship between design decisions and context, program, and spatial-formal-tectonic structure, 4. To emphasize studio culture as an experimentation-making-learning environment, to ensure that students participate in current architectural discussions with critical, innovative, creative productions, 5. To develop the use of original representation tools in projects in the production, development and sharing of architectural thought.
Course Description
Developing critical, experimental, innovative design thinking; addressing current architectural and urban design problems in terms of accessibility and sustainability; developing and interpreting a program for a non-complex building/building group; integrating architectural thinking with program, contextual data, spatial organization, formal fiction and tectonic features; relating structure, material and technology issues to the design process; conducting research on project-specific representation tools.
