Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to evaluate urban development and transformation in a holistic manner, considering its physical, economic, and social dimensions. The course aims to uncover the fundamental principles of pre- and post-disaster development and transformation, while examining the legal, administrative, economic, social, and physical aspects of urban development and transformation in Türkiye. In addition, it seeks to discuss the socio-spatial dynamics of urban development and transformation practices across different parts of the world.
Course Description
This course provides an integrated framework for understanding urban development and transformation processes before and after disasters. Students will explore the multidimensional nature of urban change by analyzing the legal, institutional, socio-economic, and ecological contexts in which planning takes place.
