PEM 305E - Landscape Construction II
Course Objectives
1. Explain the general landscape construction(implementation) process.
2. Provide an understanding of hydraulics principles, which are necessary for the successful implementation of irrigation systems, including selection and design.
3. Introduce the principles of lighting design for landscape architecture.
4. Develop knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to develop cost estimates for specialized landscape architectural elements.
5. Develop an ability to work with allied professionals.
6.Develop a comprehension of the importance of independent research and survey of literature
and landscape architectural industry for professional development and enhancement of personal knowledge, skills, and abilities
Course Description
This course discusses specialty topics in landscape construction and design implementation. It studies the landscape application techniques into four distinct parts: (1) Sustainable use of plants, Planting and Maintenance Techniques, (2) Irrigation Design and Construction, Water harvesting and Recycling (3) Lighting Design and Practice, guidelines for landscape
energy conservation, the need for darkness and efficient lighting, (4) Noise Control, (5) Quantity Survey and Cost Estimation.
