Course Objectives 1.The purpose is to assure that geologic factors affecting the site selection in urban and rural
areas.
2. To emphasize the role of environmental effects by manmade structure and interference to
nature
Course Description Structure of Earth, Minerals, rocks, structural geology, engineering properties of rocks, geological maps and cross- sections, hydrogeology, geothermal and mineral waters, natural hazards (earthquake, mass movements), engineering geology ( buildings, dams, tunnels-metro, etc.), natural stones, environmental pollution, site selection.
Course Outcomes 1. Understanding geological environment
2. Evaluation of geological maps and preparing of geological cross-sections
3. Understanding natural hazards with cause and effects
4. Assessments and usage of water resources
5. Importance of geology in planning of engineering structures
6. Usage of earth scientific data in planning
