Course Objectives 1.to provide theories of planning and theories in planning in the historical context
2.to evaluate the role of planning in the social,economic and environmental context
3.to provide the political and technical roles of planners
4.to give the ability of evaluating urban issues from the systems point of view
5.to inform about basic planning techniques and their functions
Course Description Substantive and procedural theories, explanatory and prescriptive theories,
sociopolitical theories, decision theories, and land-use theories. Changing paradigms of spatial organization after 1980s and theoritical debate related to this paradigms. Debate on planning methods based on current thoughts. Planning process, forecasting ,plan and policy alternatives and plan evaluation methods.
