Course Objectives

1. Teaching basic information on energy efficient housing design
2. Introduction to the design parameters, passive and active systems which are effective on energy efficiency
3. Strengthen the theoretically learned information by applying on a project

Course Description

Energy efficient housing design concept, factors which require energy efficient housing design,factors affecting energy efficient housing design: physical environmental factors (climate,natural light), design parameters related with the building and determination of appropriate
values of them (optical and thermophysical properties of building envelope, window properties,
light reflectivities of internal and external surfaces, distance between buildings, building
orientation and form, natural vantialation system and solar control), passive and active systems,
contemporary approaches in the energy efficient housing design.
