MIM 380 - External Wall Systems

Course Objectives

To provide comprehensive and detailed knowledge related with external wall systems and components
To understand performance of external wall systems and components in place
To develop the skills of designing external wall systems and components

Course Description

Objectives, scope of the course and related definitions. External wall systems. Performance
analysis of external wall systems: environmental factors, user needs, performance requirements
determined with regard to the basic functions of wall components. Physical analysis of external
walls: In-situ failure analysis and discussing solution proposals. Forming, jointing and
integration of the walls with buildings. Studio work: external wall design and/or evaluation of
alternative solutions and selection, and detailing.
