Course Objectives		1. To introduce the products and actors of the architectural milieu from the 19th century onwards; and 2. To provoke historically grounded, critical and comparative thinking about the architecture of the period in consideration.
Course Description		The social and cultural bases of modernity, Art Nouveau, Modernity and avant-garde approaches, Bauhaus, The pioneers of modern architecture, The congress of CIAM, The application of modernity to the urban scale, Art Deco, Totalitarian architecture, Modernism during the 1950's and 1960's: The International Style, The sensibility of historic environment and the early reactions against modernism, Postmodernism, current trends in architecture, Modernism in the architectural milieu of Republican period in Turkey.
