1. Development of the background in air pollution by the introduction of the fundamental knowledge in
air pollution and its relationship with other environmental engineering areas,
2. Improvement of the concepts in theoretical and applied knowledge with laboratory applications.

Fundamentals of air pollution. Air pollutants. Impacts of air pollution on human health, welfare, and
ecosystem. Air pollution sources. Combustion chemistry, fuels. Air pollutant formation mechanisms.
Atmospheric transformation and transport of pollutants. Atmospheric reactions. Meteorology. Dispersion
models. Industrial air pollutant control technologies. Air quality measurement techniques. Air pollutant
measurement techniques at the source. Air quality management. Global air pollution problems. Cost
analysis
