Population, food and hunger. Alternative energy sources (renewable & non-renewable) & relationship to the environment. Effects of human activities on health & the environment: effects of air, water, and soil pollutants. Soil erosion & desertification. Land use and land misuse. Land disposal of waste. Waste minimization. Waste and disease. Treatment and disposal of hazardous waste. Water sources conservation. Water pollution & its sources. Common water pollutants, basic principles of their treatment. Treatment of toxic & hazardous substances. Dimensions, past, present and future of environmental science and studies.
