INS 315E - Mechanics of Inelastic Materia

Course Objectives

The purpose of this course is to introduce the mechanical properties of materials behaving beyond elastic regime and explain the principles of behaviour and design of sections and structural members in plastic regime.

Course Description

This course where inelastic material behavior is presented bases on and improves subjects of strength of materials course where mainly elastic behavior is introduced. Behavior of sections made of inelastic materials subjected to axial loading, bending moment and torsion are addressed and plastic behaviour of materials is specially emphasized. Furthermore, implementations of the subject on steel and reinforced concrete structural members are presented.
