Course Objectives 1.To teach the components of building materials.
2.To teach concrete mixture design and production.
3.To develop the knowledge of fresh and hardened concrete properties.
Course Description Cementitious materials and Portland cement, Mixing water, Concrete aggregates, Properties of concrete, Concrete Mixture Design, Admixtures, Concrete production, Durability, Hardened concrete properties, Shrinkage, Statistical quality control, Metals.
Course Outcomes Students completing this course will have gained knowledge on:
I. Binding Materials, II. Concrete-Constituent Materials: Cement.
III. Concrete-Constituent Materials: Aggregates. IV. Concrete-Constituent Materials: Mixing Water and Concrete Admixtures, V. Concrete Mix Design., VI. Properties of Fresh Concrete.
VII. Properties of Hardened Concrete. VIII. Quality control of concrete, IX. Metals, polymers
