Course Objectives 1. To provide the concepts of material behavior, reinforced concrete Section behavior, design principles, ultimate strength design method, reinforcement design.
2. To provide applications for given concepts.
3. To give an ability to apply knowledge of reinforced concrete behavior on engineering problems.
Course Description einforced concrete members, Concrete, Reinforcing steel, Mechanical properties of concrete and steel, Development of anchorage and splicing of reinforcement, loads and load effects, providing safety in R/C, Material factors, Mechanics of R/C beam, Under-over reinforced beam, Balanced beam, Ultimate strength design, Analysis of flanged beams, Column capacity, Eccentrically loaded columns, Column interaction diagram, Bi-axially loaded columns, Tied and spiral columns, Shear design procedures, Behavior of R/C members subjected to torsion, Design for torsion, Analysis and design of slender columns, Elastic analysis of beams with rectangular cross-sections, Frame, Beam-column joints, Redistribution, General construction knowledge.
