Course Objectives
Learning components of materials and how to use them effectively
Course Description
atomic structure of materials, diffusion, crystal structure, mechanical properties, behavior under tension and compression, hardness, fracture, fatique, creep, relaxation, physical properties, permeability, capillarity
Course Outcomes
1- Understand the relations between the chemical composition, atomic bonding and the properties of materials. 2- Understand the crystal and amorphous structures and the effects of crystal defects on material properties. 3- Have knowledge on alloys and their properties. 4- Have knowledge on diffusion laws and the factors that affect diffusion. 5- Understand the physical and mechanical properties of materials. 6-Understand the time-dependent properties of materials and the principles of brittle and ductile fracture.
