Course Objectives The aim of this course is to improve students’ skills in Urban Information System with respect to designing a conceptual and software framework for a better urban management.
Course Description Within the course, the basis of Urban Information System, urban management legislation, design and development procedures, standards, numeration, geospatial data sets for urban information systems will be discussed.
Course Outcomes 1 Understands the elements of urban management and the relationship between urban information systems.
2 Explain the issues in the management of urban spatial data, organization and administrative functions.
3 Establishes the relationship between project management and institutionalization for urban information systems.
4 Understands and evaluates the data and information collection methods, data sources, quality, the classification and features.
5 Understand the organization of different types of data and information systems in city.
6 Understand the modelling approaches, databases and integration of the systems.
7 Implements different analysis strategies used in the urban project.
8 Make decision for software-hardware selection, legislation; evaluate the integration of the national and international standards.
9 Establishing the project cost-benefit relationship and makes evaluation of technical analysis.
10 Examines the web-based urban info applications.
Pre-requisite(s) Submission of the term project is a prerequisite for being able to take the final exam.
