Course Objectives Civil Engineering Undergraduate students
1.To teach the main subjects of foundation construction with the necessary detail and clarity,
2. To convey the place and importance of the subjects in civil engineering with appropriate examples,
Course Description Giving information about the main topics of foundation construction to Civil Engineering Undergraduate students and providing geotechnical engineering education by using the knowledge of the Soil Mechanics-I course,
Course Outcomes Students who successfully pass this course:
1. Understands why geotechnical engineering is needed
2. Learns what soil survey and geotechnical report contain.
3. Learns slope stability analysis and slope prevention methods.
4. Calculation of lateral soil thrusts to ground support structures
5. Learns the dimensioning of retaining walls.
6. Learns the calculation of the bearing capacity of the foundation soil.
7. Learns the dimensioning of shallow foundations.
8. Learns the selection and sizing of deep foundations.
9. Understands the improvement of soils with low bearing capacity in accordance with the purpose.
10. Learns the compression methods of filling areas.
