Course Objectives The aim of the course is to provide the basic image processing methods and algorithms applied to remotely sensed images; Integration of spatial data and analysis methods with Remote Sensing data.
Course Description It is a practical course that teaches Remote Sensing concepts and main image processing methods used for solving the issues in Geomatics Engineering and environment. In addition, the integration of remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems will be examined in detail.
Course Outcomes 1 Evaluates the use of Thermal Infrared satellite Imagery and outputs in urban applications.
2 Comprehends of application areas of Microwave Remote Sensing Imagery and its limitations.
3 Comprehends of hyperspectral image data,shows the application areas, and to approach the results of comparison.
4 Lists the basic characteristics, limitations, advantages and application areas of Lidar data.
5 Applies and evaluates different spectral indices and transformation techniques used in remote sensing.
6 Analyses and synthesises different digital information extraction techniques from satellite imagery.
7 Compares the different change detection techniques used in Remote Sensing according to the degree of effectiveness.
