Course Objectives The main objectives of the course are;
1. to develop skills of implementing wastewater and sludge treatment principles in engineering practices through understanding the stoichiometry and kinetics of microbial growth,
2. to develop skills for the conceptual design of biological wastewater and sludge treatment processes.
Course Description This course provides the fundamentals of metabolic processes in biological treatment and the principles of aerobic and anaerobic biological wastewater and sludge treatment processes in Environmental Engineering applications. The design principles of widely applied activated sludge systems for carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus removal from wastewaters are provided.
Course Outcomes An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
Pre-requisite(s) CEV437/437E Atıksu Arıtma Tesisi Tasarımı / Wastewater Treatment Plant Design, CEV4901/4901E Çevre Müh. Tasarımı I / Environmental Eng. Design I
