Course Objectives
1. Development of background information in various air pollution sources in
urban areas
2. Introduction of the concepts in air quality management through case studies
Course Description
Introduction to Urban Air Pollution, Urban planning, Smart cities, Micrometeorological effects of buildings, Heat island effect. Residential sources, Industrial sources, Mobile sources. Odor emissions and control. Emission inventories, Urban air quality monitoring and modeling. Urban air quality management, Case studies, Example cities.
Course Outcomes
Students who are successfully finish this course are expected to develop an
understanding of
I. air quality management systems
II. air pollution sources of residential, industrial, mobile and other urban pollution sources
III. best available technologies (BATs) for different industrial sources
IV. developing an emission inventory
V. monitoring of air pollution
VI. Student will have a knowledge base on air quality modeling and exposure.
