Course Objectives
The purpose of the Technical Drawing course in civil engineering is to teach students how to visually represent engineering designs and projects in a way that can be easily understood and accurately implemented by engineers and other stakeholders. The main objectives of this course are as follows:
Creating Drawings According to Standards: In civil engineering, drawings need to comply with specific international or local standards. This course teaches students these standards, ensuring that project drawings adhere to these rules.
Expressing Engineering Designs: The course covers how to represent engineering projects using 2D and 3D technical drawings. This includes drawing plans, sections, and elevations accurately.
Use of Drawing Tools: Students learn both manual drawing techniques and how to use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. Since digital drawings are becoming increasingly important in modern engineering projects, proficiency in these tools is essential.
Understanding and Interpreting Project Details: Technical drawings help in detailing structural elements (such as columns, beams, foundations, etc.). Students learn how to read and interpret dimensions, materials, and other technical specifications shown on drawings.
Communication and Collaboration: Technical drawings serve as a communication tool between all stakeholders in construction projects (architects, engineers, contractors, etc.). This course teaches students how to effectively collaborate with other disciplines through clear technical drawings.
Course Description
Technical drawing is the graphic language used in the industrial world by
engineers and designers to express and record the ideas and information
necessary for the building of machines and structures.
