Course Objectives To introduce students to the fundamental design knowledge for railway engineering.
Course Description Introduction to Railway Engineering, Railway Geometric Standards, Railway Superstructure Elements and Materials, Railway Vehicles, Route/Track Location Survey, Rail Vehicle Dynamics, Track Capacity, Curves, Transition Curves, Gradients
Course Outcomes By the end of this course, students should be able to evaluate, analyse, calculate and draw a typical railway plan and profile.
Consequently, students familiar with the general principles presented in the course will find it easier to apply these skills if they choose transportation engineering as their career field.
The course content is designed to develop skills for effectively designing railway engineering systems.
