Course Objectives
This course aims to:
1) give fundamental components of anaerobic metabolism
2) graduate the Environmental Engineering students who has necessary knowledge about anaerobic treatment technologies
3) gain an ability about continuously self improving in order to contribute to the development and welfare of the nation
4) gain a professional and ethical responsibility
Course Description
Introduction to anaerobic treatment. Phased models. The biochemistry and microbiology of anaerobic treatment. Environmental factors. Toxicity and inhibition in anaerobic treatment: volatile fatty acid inhibition, ammonia-nitrogen inhibition, sulphide inhibition, heavy metal inhibition, alkali and alkali earth salts inhibition and others. Kinetics and modeling of anaerobic treatment. Process monitoring and control.
