Course Objectives
The world imagine of antiquity, determining efforts of earth shape, cartography in Europe in the Middle Age, Islam cartography, the portolon charts at time of land discoveries, old measurement instruments, the blooming time of cartography of topographic maps, development of time, length etc. The mapping activities of Europeans in Asia Minor, presents cartography in Turkey, the organization of map making in the country.
Course Description
The world imagine of antiquity, efforts to determine of earth shape, cartography in Europe in the Middle Age, Islam cartography, the portolan charts at time of land discoveries, old measurement instruments, the blooming time of cartography of topographic maps, development of time, length etc. The mapping activities of Europeans in Asia Minor, cartography in Turkey since 1920, the organization of map making in the country.
Course Outcomes
Students success the lecture:
1) Analyze and compare the historical cartographic maps in terms of design and social rules,
2) Make the valuation of labor and artistic items, including the historical maps.
3) Appreciate the meaning of patient labor in order to overcome the problems
4) Aware of the value of the ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
5) Product within the framework of professional and ethical responsibilities, and advocate these values.
6) Have effective written and oral communication skills for the studies
7) Know the value of the needing lifelong learning.
8) Need to have current knowledge of actual/contemporary issues.
