Course Objectives 1.Design of reinforced concrete structures, Turkish Seismic Design Code and design of reinforced concrete structures according to vertical and lateral loads.
2.Learn about application of the code requirements and construction details.
3.To give an ability to apply knowledge of reinforced concrete behavior on engineering problems.
Course Description Design of reinforced-concrete slabs supported by beams, girdered slabs, slabs without beams subjected to vertical loads. Information about Turkish Earthquake Code. Determination of lateral EQ forces affecting reinforced-concrete structures according to the code and distribution of internal forces in structural elements. Calculation of the internal forces at foundations (wall foundations, singular foundations, continuous foundations on elastic soil, plate foundations) of masonry and reinforced-concrete structures subject to vertical and lateral loading. Introduction to staircase systems and determination of internal forces at inclined and landing plates and design. Introduction to retaining walls, determination of loads, calculation of the internal forces and design of retaining walls.
