Course Objectives 1. To explain concepts and methods of databases in engineering.
2. To be able to design and implement databases.
3. To use databases for problem solving and analyzing of engineering applications.
4. To develop applications involving database systems in particular using SQL and Access software
Course Description Introduction to database, Fundamentals of database systems, Data models, Entity-Relationship Model, Hierarchical model, Network database model, Relational model, Object Oriented model, SQL (Structured Query Language), Spatial Databases, Web based Databases.
Course Outcomes 1 Design the relational and object oriented data model according to requirements of application.
2 Design databases, formulate and conclude the query procedures by using DataBase Managements Systems.
3 Interpret the application schemes developed with UML diagrams.
4 Applicate the application schemes developed with UML diagrams.
5 Interpret topological relations and spatial queries within the concept of spatial data base.
6 Explain the concept of the Web based data bases and their application areas.
7 Explain and quote the facts of data storage and data mining.
