Course Objectives
To teach students the basic technical concepts in computer engineering.
To provide students with an early exposure to the practice of programming.
Course Description
Basic computer knowledge: hardware, software, operating system, file system, character set, metadata. Working with documents and web pages: content, structure, style. Working with images: bitmap images, vector images. Working with data: spreadsheets. Introduction to programming: basic constructs, control flow, composite data types, procedural abstraction. Basics of developing applications with modern tools.
Course Outcomes
To know the general working principles of a computer.
Ability to apply modern document preparation methods.
Ability to prepare a web site and to make it accessible.
To be acquainted with basic programming techniques.
Ability to develop a small web application.
