YZV 447E - Cognitive Neuroscience
Course Objectives
1. To be able to compare natural and artificial neural networks
2. Get to know the functional building blocks and functional connectivity of the brain
3. To investigate the use of artificial neural nets in application areas that make us better understand the human brain
4. To be aware of the restrictions in the use of artificial neural networks
Course Description
In this course, the structure of the functional building blocks of the human brain is introduced, as well as their high level connectivity. Comparisons are made between these (eg. vision, language, memory) and their models based on artificial neural nets and deep learning. Furthermore the performance of artificial neural nets and machine learning techniques used in application areas on brain function (eg. Brain computer interface, neuropsychology) are investigated.
