CEV 429 - Industrial Pollution Control
Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to enable students to understand the environmental impacts of industrial activities, identify pollution sources, and learn technological, managerial, and legal methods for preventing or reducing such pollution. By understanding the fundamental principles of controlling wastes (air, water, and soil pollutants) generated in industrial processes, students will gain knowledge and skills in sustainable production, clean technology applications, and environmental management systems.

Definition of industrial pollution. Types of industrial pollution and their relationships. Process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances. Basic operations and processes in industry. Best Technology Approach. Process profile. Classification based on pollution. Waste investigation. Sampling. Pollution profile. Obtaining information from industries. Industrial wastewater management. Discharge standards. Pretreatment practices. Joint treatment. Industrial symbiosis. Industrial air pollution, solid and hazardous wastes, wastewater and its control. Noise and its control. Industrial construction and related environmental legislation in Türkiye. In-plant control. Clean technologies. Recycling, reuse.
