Course Objectives 1 - Making students aware of their responsibilities regarding their employers, their customers and the general public.
2 - Letting students know about the professional codes of conduct prepared by relevant professional organizations regarding information technologies.
3 - Helping students form opinions about ethical issues in their profession and getting them to express their opinions both in oral and written form.
4 - Inspiring students to consider ethical issues during their entire professional career and to act responsibly according to legal and ethical issues.
5 - Cultivating critical, detached and reflexive approaches to issues of morality.
Course Description Philosophical ethics. Professional ethics and rules of conduct. Privacy. Software ownership, copyright, patent, license agreements. Internet ethics. Social implications of computer technology.
Course Outcomes 1 - Know the social implications and controversial issues about information technologies.
2 - Know the professional codes of conduct regarding information technologies.
3 - Know legal issues about privacy and data protection.
4 - Know the legal issues about intellectual property.
5 - Know the legal issues about cybercrime.
