Course Objectives The overall educational objective of this course is to enable students to:
1. Understand importance and role of supply chain management for companies.
2. Understand and identify the major decision areas of supply chain
3. Analyze the supply chain performance and financial impacts of supply chain decisions.
4. Design efficient and effective supply chain networks.
Course Description This course focuses on the development and application of decision models in supply chains with emphasis on demand forecasting, inventory management, supply chain network design, transportation, warehousing, sourcing, IT systems, performance management and coordination.
Course Outcomes Students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skills and proficiency in the following subjects:
I. Define and explain supply chain management concepts.
II. Define and explain supply chain management strategies.
III. Define the decision areas for a successful supply chain strategy, analyze the benefits of implementing effective supply chain practices.
IV. Define and explain supply chain management approaches and systems as well as their impacts on the performance of the company and its supply chain as a whole.
