Course Objectives 1.To teach knowledge about marine insurance and applications.2.To make understandable the relation between insurance rules and ship management.
Course Description Insurance concept, insurance law, definitions. Insurance terminology. Marine Insurance Law.Hull Insurance. Marine Cargo Insurance. Protection and Indemnity (P&I); P&I Clubs and coverage, seamen claims, cargo claims, accident claims. FDND (Freight, Demurrage and Defense Insurance). Identification of inter-relations between insurance rules and international technical ship management rules. Record keeping for objective evidences.Marine Insurance conflicts and court decisions.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to;I.Learn insurance terminology and responsibilities of the parties.II.Comprehend the maritime risks covered by insurances.III.Learn maritime insurance types.IV.Learn the relations between insurance rules and international technical ship management rules and to learn the evidence ofinsurance losses.
